A Hearty Stout for Apres Ski

Brewer Notes:

This particular craft beer is full bodied and so dark you can't see through the glass...a smooth and mellow CO brew with chocolate, coffee, and vanilla notes that have a velvety mouth feel and low hop bitterness. It has a mildly sweet taste with a nutty and toasty maltiness. Made with a tincture of Jim Beam, Frangelico, Myers's Dark Rum, vanilla beans and extract this is sure to please anyone after a winter day on the slopes or a summer day in the saddle.

History:

Stout is a dark beer made using roasted malt or roasted barley, hops, water and yeast. Stouts and porters are historically intertwined, being that stout was originally used to describe the strongest of porters. Research in the 1920s suggested that people felt better after a pint of a stout porter, and post-op patients, blood donors, pregnant women and nursing mothers in Europe were advised to drink a pint of a stout beer to nourish themselves. While this suggestion isn't a common one with today's doctors, we think that drinking a pint of our Outlaw Stout after a hard day of skiing has, in fact, made many bruised and weary skiers feel better.
